Strong Women, Stronger Together
National Women’s Health and Fitness Day is a powerful reminder for women to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. At Tulane Campus Recreation, we celebrate this day by encouraging women to embrace their strength, set new health goals, and engage in fitness activities that empower them to be their best selves.
Taking care of your health is about building resilience, increasing energy, and boosting overall well-being. Regular exercise helps reduce the risk of chronic diseases, strengthens bones and muscles, and enhances mental health by relieving stress and improving mood. For women, prioritizing fitness not only helps us live longer, healthier lives but also empowers us to break barriers and inspire others to do the same.
Tulane Campus Recreation is committed to supporting women in their health and fitness journeys. We strive to foster an inclusive environment that encourages personal growth through recreational and wellness opportunities. Here are some of the ways we celebrate women’s health and fitness:
1. Group Exercise Classes: Empowering Fitness Through Community
Whether it’s spinning, Zumba, or yoga, our Group Exercise Classes bring women together to sweat, move, and achieve their fitness goals in a supportive, high-energy environment. Led by motivating instructors and powered by upbeat music, these classes are designed to be accessible and fun for participants of all fitness levels.
“I love the convenience of group exercise at Reily. The class sizes are perfect and easy to navigate, and the consistency of group classes makes maintaining my personal fitness goals more manageable. I never regret waking up for a 6:15 a.m. class!”
—Sarah Moore, Tulane Staff Member.
2. Personal Training: a Customized Approach to Wellness
Our personal trainers work with women to develop tailored fitness plans that focus on building strength, endurance, and overall well-being. Whether your goal is to lift heavier, run faster, or simply feel better in your body, our trainers will help you get there—while making the experience enjoyable.
“My trainer pushed me to reach my fitness goals while also making it fun to go to the gym regularly and learn new types of exercises.”
—Chloe L., Student.
3. Small Group Training: Strength in Numbers
Sometimes, the best motivation comes from working out with others. Our Small Group Training programs, like BoxFit45, give women the opportunity to learn new skills—such as boxing techniques—while benefiting from the companionship of a supportive group. With the guidance of certified trainers, participants can build strength and stamina in a fun and dynamic environment.
“My goal in Small Group Training was to learn the fundamentals of boxing and be motivated to go to the gym. This was accomplished as I went consistently and felt improvement with every successive class.”
—Melinda Q., BoxFit45 Participant.
4. Intramural Sports: Fitness and Fun for Everyone
For women who enjoy sports and friendly competition, our Intramural Sports offerings provide a great way to stay active while having fun with friends and classmates. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking for a casual game, intramurals offer exercise in a relaxed, yet structured environment. From soccer to basketball to pickleball, there’s something for everyone.
“I enjoy spending time with my friends in a new environment that makes us feel closer through a unified goal.”
—Participant Survey Response.
