Small Group Training
Small group training is a series of workout sessions lasting no more than one hour with a limited number of people participants. A particular series of classes lasts for 4 weeks to 6 weeks.
The boxing class workouts are led by one of our Tulane Campus Rec certified personal trainers with amateur competitive boxing and instructing experience. Our trainer will provide you with exercises that cover full body conditioning and cardio-focused workouts to add to your fitness routine, along with a focus on proper techniques while boxing.
Our TU faculty/staff workouts are led by one of our Tulane Campus Rec certified personal trainers with experience working in our Employee Health Improvement Program and/or general experience working with a diverse group of participants at different fitness levels. Our trainer will provide you with exercises that cover building strength, stamina, and flexibility, as well as other important building blocks for a fitness routine.
The main benefits and advantages of small group training over traditional one-on-one personal training are the increased motivation that comes from working out with others. Small group training is also a great way to work with a personal trainer and save money by working with a group.

Join your fitness friends at the Reily Center for free boxing demos to promote our upcoming small-group training boxing classes for the semester. In partnership with the Wave of Support and the program for Tugether, we will be providing gloves for participants along with free "Knockout Negativity" boxing stickers and other fun Tulane swag.

All small group training classes take place in the Personal Training Studio (Fourth Floor, Reily Student Recreation Center). There are 10 spots available for each class.
Boxing gloves are provided as a rental to each registered participant to use during class. Hand wraps are provided for FREE to returning participants. Please see the small group training webpage for more information on boxing equipment expectations for the class.
You will receive confirmation regarding your free wraps to your Tulane or ActiceNet account email after you register.

Class Descriptions
Look to maximize your high-intensity workouts with this quick boxing training class. Add the fundamentals of heavy bag boxing into your workout routine with this 45-minute circuit workout class. The primary focus will include working with our personal training staff to learn basic boxing bag movements and workouts safely and correctly.
Take your boxing workout routines to the next level and learn kickboxing fundamentals and techniques. Continue the high-intensity workouts while mastering a different approach to boxing in a 45-minute circuit workout class. The primary focus will include working with our personal training staff to learn basic kickboxing bag movements and workouts safely and correctly.
Whether you are a recent graduate of our EHIP lottery program or a new faculty/staff member with the university. This fitness training class will provide you with an opportunity to work with your colleagues towards accomplishing common fitness goals. This is a 6-week small group training class available to Tulane faculty and staff. Each class of participants will work with a Tulane Campus Rec certified personal trainer week by week, building on the fundamental foundations of working out as well as reaping the benefits of accountability, social connection, and support toward accomplishing health and wellness goals. Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. An active gym membership is required.

The following equipment is recommended for full participation and enjoyment of our small group training boxing classes. Boxing gloves are not included with registration for small group training classes. Hand wraps are provided complimentary for each participant, but additional hand wrap recommendations are provided.

Boxing gloves are FREE with new participant registration, hand wraps are optional but recommended for additional support. Boxing wraps are FREE with returning participant registration. Please see the small group training webpage for more information on boxing equipment expectations for the class.
You will receive confirmation regarding whether you will receive a pair of free gloves or free wraps will be sent to you via email after you register.
Small Group Training Policies
The information included in the registration for personal training is everything you need to get started with participating in small group training classes. After completing the online registration form and payment, you will be contacted by email within 3-5 business days to confirm your registration for participating in the small group training program. You will be provided with instructions as needed for you to properly prepare for classes. On your first session please make sure to be well hydrated and have a light snack/meal 60-90 minutes before training sessions to prevent fatigue during the workout. Additionally, you may want to bring a water bottle and a sweat towel.
All small group training participants are required to have a current Tulane recreational center membership. Membership access is provided for both of our fitness facilities, Reily Student Recreation Center (uptown campus) and TU Fitness Center (downtown campus) with a valid recreational center membership and Splash card/ID provided.
While registering for small group training sessions, you will be prompted to pay to secure your spot in the class prior to the designated class registration deadline. This payment may be made through your ActiveNet online membership portal.
All small group training locations take place in our Personal Training Studio, located on the 4th floor of the Reily Center, between our indoor track and mat room. If for any reason training is expected to take place outside of the Personal Training Studio, you will be notified by your instructor in advance.
There are no refunds for small group training except for the following:
- Changes in medical condition that prohibit participation (must provide documentation).
- We are unable to secure you a spot due to the class remaining full and having to remain on the waitlist after the start of SGT classes.
Any classes not attended within the small group training program timeframe are forfeited by registered patron and registration cannot be transferred to another person.
