Reily Maintenance Closures (May 2025)

The Reily Center will be closed Monday, May 19, through Friday, May 23, for our annual summer maintenance. TU Fit will be open during this time. As a reminder, TU Fit is only accessible to current Tulane students, faculty, and staff with a valid Splash Card and a Tulane Campus Recreation membership.

In addition to our annual summer maintenance, the Reily Center’s main gym (basketball courts), indoor track, and natatorium will be closed for extended maintenance starting Monday, May 19, and will reopen before the start of the fall 2025 semester.

We apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience as we continue to ensure the quality and safety of our facilities. Check our website, social media, and email alerts this summer for official reopening dates.

Summer 2025 Hours of Operation

Our summer hours of operation start on Friday, May 9. Please view our Hours and Facilities page for our full list of summer adjusted hours and closures.

3v3 Basketball Rules/Modifications

3v3 Basketball rules are akin to 5v5 Basketball with these modifications.

  1. Games shall be played on half court.
  2. All games will be played to 40 points in up to two 12-minute halves (running clock). Teams must win by two points.
    1. Teams receive 1 timeout per game.
  3. Points count the same as 5v5 Basketball.
  4. If the game is tied at the end of the second half, the winner will be the first team ahead by two points or the team leading after three further minutes are played (if still tied, next basket wins).
  5. The team scoring a basket retains possession of the ball. ("Make it - Take it.")
  6. After each made basket or change of possession, the ball must be taken back behind the “three-point line” before a shot can be attempted. If a team scores a basket without taking the ball back, the basket will be disallowed but the offending team will retain possession.
  7. After a stoppage in play, the offense must "check" the ball before play resumes and the ball must be passed to start play.
  8. Fouls and violations are called akin to the 5v5 version of the game. For the first 9 team fouls, the penalty is either a new possession to the fouled team (common, non-shooting fouls) or a free throw (shooting fouls). For the 10th team foul and beyond, the penalty is 1 free throw. Fouls carry over into the 2nd half.
  9. When awarded a free throw, only 1 free throw will be awarded. A made free throw will count for 2 points (foul on 2pt attempt) or 3 points (foul on 3pt attempt).
    1. If fouled on a made basket, the free throw will not be shot and the additional point will automatically be added. (Ex: Player A3 is fouled on a layup and makes the basket. A3 is credited with 3 pts.)
  10. All held-balls are awarded by alternating possession arrow.
  11. Substitutions may be made at any time that play is stopped.
    1. Must be called on by an official.
