Work Anniversary Celebration a Soaring Success

As the proverbial saying goes, "time flies when you're having fun."

For two Tulane Campus Recreation employees, flight (and a freefall) was also an exhilarating way to commemorate their first work anniversary with the university, marking the occasion with a celebratory skydiving trip.

Assistant Director of Business Operations Ryan Jones and Administrative Program Coordinator Airi Toma took to the skies in early March.

"Airi and I have been contemplating skydiving together for a while now," says Jones. "We thought there would be no better way to celebrate our one-year Tulane anniversary than by jumping out of a plane together. We've built a strong friendship over the past year, going from sharing lunch at orientation on our very first day to taking a road trip to Gulf Shores to jump over the beautiful waters of the Gulf. We've come a long way over a short period of time as both coworkers and friends. I'm so excited to see what the next year brings!"

"I think it was one of the greatest ideas Ryan and I have ever had," says Toma. "Who would've ever imagined that the one person sitting across the room from you at staff orientation would be your coworker and a friend? Well, here we are one year later… jumping out of a plane together at 10,000 feet! I am very happy that we were able to share this experience."
