As the City of New Orleans begins its phased reopening, we know many of you are curious about when the Reily Student Recreation Center will resume operations. The Department of Campus Recreation continues to follow Tulane University guidelines for business resumption. As this is an extremely fluid process, we do not have a resumption date at this time.

Due to expected capacity limitations, the priority of access to the Reily Center will be given to Tulane students, faculty, and staff during the initial phase of our reopening. We are not charging members during this time and will only reinstate billing once each membership category can begin accessing the facility. Our pool may also be closed for necessary repairs during the initial phases.

We invite you to participate in the multiple Virtual Activities we are offering. New instructional videos, healthy recipes, virtual group exercise classes, and other activities are added weekly to our YouTube channel, social media feeds, and website.

We will continue to communicate updates related to business resumption on our website, social media accounts, mobile app, and via email. If you have not done so, please sign up to receive our email alerts

We look forward to serving our members again soon!

      The Game:

    • Participants will be organized into double or single elimination brackets, depending on the number of entries.
    • H-O-R-S-E is played between two participants.
    • Participants matching baskets will match baskets. The participant who makes 5 shots that their opponent is not able to duplicate wins the game.
    • The participant who will shoot first will be designated by a coin toss.
    • The second person shooting must duplicate the first person’s shot if it is made. If the second shooter misses, they receive the letter H.
    • If the first person’s shot is missed, the second shooter may attempt any shot. If the shot is made, the opponent is obligated to duplicate it. Each time a shooter misses a shot that they attempted to duplicate a letter is “awarded”. The game continues until one person accumulates 5 letters of H-O-R-S-E.

    • Shots may be attempted from anywhere on the court.
    • Shots may be “called” or “not called”.
    • “Called” shots must be called before the shot and are as follows:
      • Bank: Off the backboard and into the basket, may touch rim.
      • Straight In: Must go into the basket without touching the backboard.
      • Opposite Hand: If the shooter is right handed the shot is attempted with the left hand and vice-versa.
      • Jump Shot: Both feet off the court when the ball is released.
      • Set Shot: Both feet in contact with the court when the ball is released.
      • Hook Shot: Ball is released in an arch over the body
    • No shot may be attempted twice in a row from the same spot to give the opponent two consecutive letters.
    • Dribbling and ball handling are not part of the shot.
    • Dunking is not allowed.
