Freshmen Dynasty Challenge

What is it?

A year long points race, beginning in the fall semester and ending in the spring semester,

in which the same team (use same team name) and team members participate together in designated Intramural Sports Freshmen Leagues. Teams earning points for sportsmanship, participation, and winning, for the chance to be crowned Tulane Freshmen Dynasty Champions.

What do we win?

The top Tulane Freshmen Dynasty Teams will have their team names engraved on the Dynasty plaque. The plaque will be displayed in the Reily Center for all to see in the years to come.

The Tulane Freshmen Dynasty Teams members will each receive the highly coveted and exclusive Tulane Freshmen Dynasty Championship T-Shirts to display with pride.

Who’s Eligible?

1. Any freshmen team is eligible to participate in The Challenge.

See eligibility rules for Intramurals Sports participation rules

3. The Challenge offers three separate divisions of competition for a chance to win the Points Race:

a. All male teams

b. Co-Rec teams (male & female)

c. All female teams

NOTE: A participant may participate on only one Dynasty Challenge Team within each division. Examples: a male can compete on one dynasty challenge team in the men’s division and on one team in the co-rec division.

How do I sign a team up?

There will be designated Tulane Freshmen Dynasty Challenge registration forms available for each sport in the challenge. If you cannot find the form at the Reily Center or on the Reily Center website than fill out regular sports form and write in clearly at the top of the form that you are registering for The Challenge. Once a participant plays on a team they are a member of that Freshmen Challenge team for the year. They may not participate on another Freshmen Challenge team within that division or else the team that the person switched to will lose some points or may be removed from the competition entirely.

Can we add participants to the Freshmen Dynasty Challenge Roster?

Yes. Tulane Freshmen Dynasty Challenge rosters will be open to add players until the Spring 2011 IM Sports registration deadline around January 24. A dynasty may have up to 30 participants on the roster as long as they are within the eligibility rules (must be Tulane Freshmen and not on another division team). The roster will be locked after 30 freshmen have registered for a Dynasty Challenge roster. A team cannot drop a player to add a different player once the 30 person roster has been reached.

Do we have to keep the same team name for each sport and semester?

Yes, a Freshmen Dynasty Challenge Team must keep the same team name for each sport and semester they participate in that year so that the Intramural Department can keep track of the team’s points that are earned throughout the year.

Is winning the only way to earn points?

No, winning is just one way to earn points. Teams can also earn points through good

sportsmanship and by participating in multiple events.

How can the team earn points?

Teams can earn points in several ways depending on the sport and format. Teams will earn points in only the Freshmen Dynasty Challenge designated leagues. (All points will

be rounded off to the nearest point.)

1. Dynasty Team League Sports include: Winning these events will earn the Dynasty 300 Bonus Points

ii. Flag Football (Fall 2010)

iii. Indoor Volleyball (Fall 2010)

vi. Sand Volleyball (Spring 2011) – Each Dynasty can enter up to (2) teams.

each team in each sport will be multiplied by 100.

Example: A team finishes the Softball season with a 2.5

sportsmanship rating. 2.5 X 100 = 250 points. The team earns 250

sportsmanship points in Softball. If a team has an average below

2.25 they will be awarded zero sportsmanship points for that sport.

ii. Competitive Points: The team’s season ending win percentage will

be multiplied by 300. Example: A team finishes the indoor soccer

season with 6 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. There are a total of 12

games available in the indoor soccer regular season.
Ties will be counted as half a point.
