As the City of New Orleans begins its phased reopening, we know many of you are curious about when the Reily Student Recreation Center will resume operations. The Department of Campus Recreation continues to follow Tulane University guidelines for business resumption. As this is an extremely fluid process, we do not have a resumption date at this time. 

Due to expected capacity limitations, the priority of access to the Reily Center will be given to Tulane students, faculty, and staff during the initial phase of our reopening. We are not charging members during this time and will only reinstate billing once each membership category can begin accessing the facility. Our pool may also be closed for necessary repairs during the initial phases. 

We invite you to participate in the multiple Virtual Activities we are offering. New instructional videos, healthy recipes, virtual group exercise classes, and other activities are added weekly to our YouTube channel, social media feeds, and website. 

We will continue to communicate updates related to business resumption on our website, social media accounts, mobile app, and via email. If you have not done so, please sign up to receive our email alerts

Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons

Our aquatic facilities include an Olympic sized indoor pool and a seasonal, outdoor Social Pool. Whether you are interested in relaxing by the Social Pool or swimming laps for exercise, our aquatic facilities offer the space and flexibility for a wide range of activities.

Children's Group Lessons

Children’s Group Lessons offer a safe and fun environment for your child to develop and improve aquatic skills while learning about water safety. Spots are limited in each course, and classes do fill quickly. Beginning this Fall, group lessons will have a new structure! Please read the class descriptions below for more information.

Member: $90

Non-Member: $130

Wave 1 (previously Preschool): This class is for children who are new to swimming and underwater exploration. Participants will learn basic aquatic skills and safe aquatic practices while increasing their comfort and independence in the water. Class is limited to four children per instructor, and is a 30-minute lesson.

Wave 2 (previously Level 1): This class is for children who have little to no independent swimming skills. Participants will develop introductory skills such as gliding, kicking, and basic arm strokes. Participants will also learn about water safety. Class is limited to four children per instructor, and is a 30-minute lesson.

Wave 3 (previously Level 2): This class is for children who are comfortable swimming with minimal assistance. Participants will further develop the fundamental skills that lay the foundation for future strokes including simultaneous and alternating arm and leg motions. Class is limited to five children per instructor, and is a 40-minute lesson.

Wave 4 (previously Level 3): This class is for children who are comfortable swimming without assistance and is appropriate for participants who are comfortable swimming at least 5 yards independently. Participants will build on previously learned skills and continue to develop stroke techniques and increase endurance. Class is limited to five children per instructor, and is a 40-minute lesson.

Wave 5 (previously Level 4): This class is primarily taught in deep water and appropriate for participants who are comfortable swimming at least 10 yards independently. Participants will increase endurance, perfect previously learned strokes, and continue to develop new stroke techniques. Class is limited to five children per instructor, and is a 40-minute lesson.

All remaining spring classes have been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Summer dates will be out soon!


Private Lessons

Private Lessons are available for swimmers of all ages and skill levels and can be scheduled according to instructor availability through the private lessons portal. All dates and times for lessons must be chosen during the registration process. Packages include either 4 or 8 thirty-minute lessons, and they take about 1 week to schedule.

All spring classes have been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We will resume private lesson scheduling when the Reily Center reopens. 


Partner Lessons

Partner Lessons can be arranged for two participants of similar age and swimming ability. The lessons can be scheduled based on instructor availability through the private and partner lessons portal. All dates and times for lessons must be chosen during the registration process. Participants must be age 3 or older. Packages include either 4 or 8 thirty-minute lessons and take about 1 week to schedule.

All spring classes have been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We will resume partner lesson scheduling when the Reily Center reopens. 

*All Private & Semi-Private Lesson registrations must be received online.
